We offer several courses to support your academic and personal success.

CG 1 - College Success

Integrates personal growth, learning techniques, problem-solving, and critical and creative thinking to enhance academic and career success. Topics include self-evaluation and assessment, goal setting, career decision-making, educational planning, time and financial management, instructor-student relationships, college culture and expectations, diversity and inclusion, healthy lifestyle, stress management, campus resources, learning styles and strategies, note-taking, test-taking, memory, and concentration.

(1.5-3 units) Transfer Credit: CSU; UC, WITH LIMITS: CG 1, 51, and 54 combined: maximum credit - 3 units.

CG 1 FYE - First Year Experience

The First Year Experience course builds students' sense of community and connection. First-year college students will be introduced to information, resources, and skills necessary for a successful transition to college while focusing on the strengths they bring to higher education. Students will explore academic and career success strategies through problem-solving and critical-thinking activities to promote personal growth. Students will examine the following concepts: diversity, relationship-building, education and career planning, learning styles, time management, academic skills, mental and physical health, and financial literacy.

(1.5-3 units)

CG 51 - Planning for Success

Introduces the tools necessary to increase academic and life success including college expectations, resources, facilities, requirements, and educational planning.

(1-3 units) Transfer Credit: CSU; UC, WITH LIMITS: CG 1, 1FYE, 51 and 54 combined: maximum credit - 3 units.

CG 54 - College Major and Career Exploration

Assists students in exploring and evaluating major, career, and employment choices. Students will engage in self-assessment of values, skills, and personality characteristics to examine how individual, family, social, and cultural perspectives influence major and career choice. Students will learn and apply decision-making processes, practice goal setting, and develop an educational plan to meet their goals.

(1-3 units) Transfer Credit: CSU; UC, WITH LIMITS: CG 1, 51, and 54 combined: maximum credit - 3 units.
